"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." -- Emerson
Tis my favorite quote & my sole resolution for the new year. Some things I liked about 2011:
- turning 21 & having the best birthday surprise ever
- a happy, fun, memorable final semester at WashU
- bonding with 2120
- Aruba with Eric
- summer with all my loves in Topeka
- endless games of Phase 10 with my dad & brother
- watching Real Housewives with my mom
- milkshakes with my grandpa
- a bittersweet farewell to Harry Potter
- making legitimate moves for my future
- moving to Boston and meeting some wonderful people, both adults and children
- feeling the immense & consuming pride that comes from your kid (technically someone else's kid) succeeding
- Asticou
- US Open with Jeanenne
- 11/11/11 also with Jeanenne
- family and friends in good health and good spirits
Some things I'm looking forward to in 2012:
- Boston sporting events
- March Madness
- springtime in Boston
- Hunger Games movie
- running a 5k
- watching my 8th graders graduate
- watching my other kids (oh please God let this happen) matriculate to the next grade
- summer with all my loves in Topeka (hopefully)
- family vacation
- starting law school
- Alex starting high school
2011 was full of change. I don't do well with change. It is necessary blah blah blah pushes you to evolve blah blah blah but it's stressful and upsetting and I just like things to stay the same! I hope that 2012 holds even more adventures than 2011 did, as well a teeny bit more stability. While we're at it, I'd also love to win a large sum of money & develop a mesmerizing singing voice. Here's hoping!
